Tenn. Governor: Dems need nominee fast

Governor Phil Bredesen (D-Tenn.), who has not endorsed either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, has said that if the Democratic Party waits until the convention to figure out the nominee, it will be a disaster for the party. His solution is to hold a “superdelegate primary” in June where all 795 superdelegates would travel to a neutral city for two days and decide the nomination. Bredesen also took the position of Nancy Pelosi, saying that superdelegates should not overturn the will of the people and are obligated to vote for the leader in pledged delegates. Governor Bredesen said that if Senator Obama held his lead in pledged delegates and the popular vote and the superdelegates were to overturn it, “There would be hell to pay in the party for a long time to come.”
