The host of MSNBC’s Hardball, Chris Matthews, is said to be considering a run for one of Pennsylvania’s US Senate seats in 2010. The revelation will come in this Sunday’s New York Times Magazine’s profile of him. Were he to run, Matthews would most likely face incumbent Senator Arlen Specter.

Matthews, who was a speechwriter in the Carter Administration and later a top aide to Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill. He openly admits to having voted for President Bush in the 2000 election and considers himself to be more conservative than he appears.
