Let’s not forget about Eric Cantor. His important position in Congress has made him essential to the Republican Party. His influence in the party is clear: he is credited with preventing so many Republicans from voting in favor of the stimulus bill. Yesterday, The New York Times called him the new Newt Gingrich. I, like many political observers, feel that Cantor is capable of reorganizing the Republican Party much like Gingrich did in order to take back the majority in the 1990s. Cantor was also considered to be on the short list of possible VP candidates for John McCain in the past election. His youth, balanced by his extensive experience in the House, means that in a couple years’ time he’ll be ready to run as VP, if not president.

interesting results, obviously slanted though. John Adams was one of the most important leaders in the founding of this nation, actually more so than even Washington. With the leadership of Adams, independence never would have been declared, Washington wouldn’t have been selected as the commander-in-chief, and the newly formed nation never would have built its first navy, he pushed for all of these and more and served on more committees than any other member of the Continental Congress. But even with all this he only made 17th on the list.

Don't be so sure Lynch would appoint a Democrat. It is in fact highly plausible (given his governing history, his past appointments) that he would go for a Republican, and this is being discussed by a variety of news sources who are hearing similar things.

I think appointing Salazar to that position is great! He can do less damage there. As for who to replace him with?

Both the brother and Hickenlooper would be a radical change from Ken Salazar, and I happen to like both of them on a personal level.

But? We were promised change by Obama. So why not Jon Caldera or Ari Armstrong? Now, that would be change!

I think the key word in your response is “should.” In an ideal world, the media and politicians and business wouldn’t be sleeping in the same bed. But the truth is the reall power brokers likely knew each other at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, or prep school. And changing their titles from students to journalists doesn’t change relationships. So I have less confidence that accuracy is as important to reporters as notoriety for being the first one to report the news. And Google, I count on them for links to, but not so much for the news.

No one should be telling the media what to print, I thought that its always been that the media should print the news as it happens for the people in a correct manner, not to leave out parts of it. I don’t know if you have notice or not but Google has reported a one sided news in favor of Obama. Thats not news that we the people can count on being fair!

Perhaps the Obama team is demonstrating that they know how to handle the media when it comes to initiating a story line or a campaign agenda, but they haven’t finnessed how to respond to unexpected news. As I recall, some of the concerns raised about Obama during the campaign was that he might respond in a more thoughtful, reflective, professorial way to problems rather than in a more crisis intervention-just stop the bleeding manner. If nothing else, his lag time, will give bloggers and others a chance to define the issues before he comes in and shapes the story.
